CASE STUDY
Fair Share America
We made tax fairness a central narrative to the 2025 federal budget fight. With state-based earned media and localized communications, we built a groundswell in the states that fed the national opposition to what would become the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), and turned an issue-focused campaign organization into a nationally regarded grassroots powerhouse.
2025 Budget & Tax Fight
In January 2025, as President Trump returned to office, Republican trifecta’s top goal was a sweeping tax and budget package designed to deliver major benefits to billionaires and large corporations at the expense of everyday Americans.
Our goals were clear but ambitious:
1. Create sustained, visible grassroots opposition across the country.
2. Lift up personal stories and local voices to inform voters about the choices of their elected officials in the budget and tax negotiations.
3. Generate internal pressure within the Republican caucus to delay proceedings and fracture support.
4. Build ongoing accountability machine that could carry on beyond bill passage.
What We Delivered
A 50-State Opposition Engine. We provided direct resources and hands-on communications support to state-based partners in 33 states, while offering strategic advisory in all 50. We acted as translator, strategist, and rapid-response partner on federal issues — localizing the national messaging, then helping state leaders create high-impact earned media moments that fed the national opposition narrative.
A Coast-to-Coast Earned Media Blitz. We drove earned media in key markets, with a 40-stop national bus tour across 17 states in the summer of 2025. Starting as a pressure campaign before passage and switching to accountability for the August recess, we blanketed media markets across the I-80 corridor and the southwest, hitting all major regions and swing districts nationwide. This effort became one of the most consistent earned-media drivers for Democrats during the 2025 tax fight.
A National Voice For Connecting Across Party Lines. Built upon organic interactions at town hall meetings and canvasses to showcase Fair Share’s ability to attract and converse with independent and Republican voters. Elevated FSA’s Executive Director as a advocate for best practices for bridging the partisan gap with audiences across the states.
