The Story Behind Our Name
One of the core principles of how I approach communications is simple: embrace your true self, own your story, and turn it into a competitive advantage. Someone’s real personal story and perspective is a powerful strategic tool that I push every client to embrace. So it’s only fair that I share a bit about myself as well.
Here’s the story behind the name Impulsion Strategies and why I believe it perfectly captures how we help leaders break through.
The Inspiration
First up — the backstory. There are a few things I’ve loved consistently throughout my life:
- Watching hockey (cheering and jeering the NY Rangers with my family)
- Reading novels (now mostly romantasy to escape the daily news)
- Politics (promoting justice and fairness is my actual jam)
- Horses (the ultimate calming companion for any millennial with anxiety)
In fact, I grew up riding horses, and it’s still one of my grounding passions.
In horseback riding, a discipline rooted in precision and intentionality, “impulsion” has a very specific meaning: controlled power that creates high-impact, purposeful forward movement. Basically it’s pushing from behind while holding steady in front. Horse and rider gather power internally to release it with greater impact.
Impulsion is power that comes from within—authentic, sustainable, and impossible to replicate: knowing who you are, what you do, and why you matter. It’s a force you harness intentionally and channel into momentum, turning inner strength into meaningful, directed action.
The Impact
In communications—as in riding—impulsion is a game-changer. Essentially it’s fueling clarity, confidence, and breakthrough impact for leaders and their endeavors from boardrooms to ballot boxes.
So when it came time to choose a name and a theme for our company, I couldn’t think of a better way to describe the scrappy-but-focused energy that drives momentum, elevates stories, and cuts through noise. The kind of energy that, when channeled properly, transforms passionate causes, visionary candidates, and innovative companies.
That’s the power of impulsion.
